Morning All! Today is rainy with a chill in the air, the perfect day to take a nap sit and focus on a project I have put off for years! We had our master bedroom painted professionally over three years ago, and I have yet to pull the room together by way of artwork, accessories, throw pillows or rugs. Sigh. I typically DIY painting, but this room took over a week due to plaster repairs and multiple coats of gorgeous requisite gray paint to cover the kelly green walls. Yes, I previously chose that green color, and even though admittedly it glowed in the dark as my husband and I stayed up late to finish painting, I was sure it would mellow as it dried. It didn’t. Anyhoo, I was too exhausted to change it so we lived with it for way too long before hiring someone to “fix it.” (We also ripped out the carpet revealing stunning floors that were in beautiful shape, but alas, I still have that builder’s basic ceiling fixture).
So on the list of “to do” is to find artwork that brings in pops of color, along with adding trim to the white canvas curtains I purchased from West Elm. I had always envisioned adding a fun trim or utilizing a lovely fabric to add detail. I just have not been able to commit to accent colors and am stuck in the state of analysis paralysis. So right now I have requisite gray walls, urbane bronze closet doors (which I LOOOOVE) and plain white curtains. Not exactly inspirational. So what is a girl to do? Spend hours on Pinterest drooling over inspiration pics and searching Etsy for amazing pillows and artwork, of course! Then put them in a shopping cart to checkout? Why NO! That would require commitment to an accent color! Sigh. So now you know how I got here. But this HAS to change because I cannot have this level of #crazyspringfever and sleep ONE.MORE.NIGHT. in a neutral bedroom.
I have decided to start with artwork and then choose fabrics etc. from there. Here are my top inspirational picks in order to bring in COOOOOLOOOOOOR (that was my Oprah moment):
So hard to narrow this down but I am ordering up a storm today, including pillows and fabric for the curtain trim so check back next week and I will report in on progress (nothing like giving myself a public deadline to light a fire)!
xo,
Kelly
